Novell/Linux Systems Engineer

 

This role will be responsible but not limited to designing, implementing, and supporting the following Technologies.

  • File/Print/DNS/DHCP/eDirectory Services for Novell/Linux

  • Novell GroupWise Messaging

  • Novell/Linux Clustering Services & High Availability Solutions

  • Microsoft/Linux Integration concepts and strategies into Novell environments

  • Routers/Switches/Wi-Fi/Firewalls

  • SAN, LeftHand, DataCore, Compellent

  • Virtualization, Microsoft, VMware, Citrix

  • IBM/DELL/HP Server hardware

Must have 3-5 years experience designing, implementing and supporting Novell and/or Linux environments.  Experience with Open Source based solutions and being able to apply those solutions in a business or education environment.  Experience in Virtualization concepts and strategies.  Experience with supporting and troubleshooting IP infrastructures and/or connectivity. Experience with high availability solutions involving SAN/NAS, backup and replication technologies.  Experience with GroupWise implementations including supporting and troubleshooting as well as smart phone integration.  An understanding of security/vulnerability concepts and strategies for Novell and/or Linux based environments. 


The following skills and or certifications are an additional plus:  Firewall/Content filtering solutions, email archiving and SPAM/Virus solutions.   •  Work with the Sales Team on Pre/Post sales engagements, project proposals, prepare Statements of Work, and perform product demos and client presentations. 

  • Provide escalation support as well as supporting ESI's Help Desk on issues requiring a specialist for a given technology product or solution. 

  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge in the areas of Microsoft, Virtualization, SAN, IP infrastructures, Data backup and replication, industry trends, and competitive offerings.

Experience in Virtualization concepts and strategies.  Experience with supporting and troubleshooting IP infrastructures and connectivity.  Experience with high availability solutions involving SAN/NAS, backup, and replication technologies.  Experience with Exchange implementations including supporting and troubleshooting practices and smart phone integration.  An understanding of file security practices for Microsoft infrastructures.  Experience with TCP/IP, DNS and LAN/WAN support and troubleshooting practices.
